This is one of the most thorough books that I have ever read on thyroid problems. Dr. Brownstein not only covers hypothyroidism, he also reviews how to treat Graves’ and Hashimoto’s disease. As a physician, I have found this book invaluable. This book is a must for those who have thyroid problems and those that treat thyroid problems. I recommend it to all of my patients.

As a practicing physician and someone new to the “alternative” world of medicine, Dr. Brownstein’s book was indeed helpful. My wife has Hashimoto’s and the detail and references in this book have helped me to guide her therapy. Easy to read but detailed, this book supplements Richard Shames’ “Thyroid Power: 10 Steps to Total Health” as an excellent addition to any thyroid patient’s reference library!

Dr. Brownstein offers an easy to understand book about how to overcome one of the most common health issues – thyroid problems. He addresses hypothyroid, hyperthyroid and Chronic Fatigue / Fibromyalgia. I was thrilled to see that he addressed the issue of poor converters of T4 to T3, importance of good thyroid supporting nutrients, diet and detoxification. Most doctors will just throw Synthroid at you and call it good without treating the underlying cause. He refers to the importance of iodine and that is covered in his other book “Iodine: Why you need it, Why you can’t live without it.” That is also an excellent book. All therapies mentioned can be performed by a Holistic Doctor, Alternative Medicine Doctor or Naturopathic Medical doctor. [...]

This book can be purchased directly from Doctor Brownstein’s web site http://www.centerforholisticmedicine.com for $15.00. I was appalled to see the markup on these books. When people have serious health concerns I think it is a crime to take advantage of them for the mighty dollar.

When I ordered this book, I had been diagnosed but not treated accurately. The book gave me the information I needed to take to the doctor. I dismissed the endocrinologist (the last of three)who had put me in the money making machine of inefficiency as regards resolving my health issues(but which was very efficient for making the money they desired)and went to the internist who has the ability to listen. Wow. I now feel great since the the internist cooperated in making changes according to the recommendations Brownstein writes on the meds, diet, et al., and have high energy. GET the book!Get someone who will listen to you. I went to the internist having outlined the book in the appropriate areas. Good communication is the key.
