It’s extremely common (both George Bush Snr and Barbara Bush had it – quite coincidentally). An easy way to think of it is as a problem with the body’s energy usage (which the thyroid gland controls to a large degree) – people with Graves Disease run very fast metabolisms. The cause is the thyroid’s “On” switch to be constantly stimulated by part of the body’s immune system. Rest assured it can be managed very well.
